EARNWorks Veteran Initiatives – Resources for Veteran Jobseekers: “Veteran Speakers Network (VSN)

EARN’s Veteran Speakers Network (VSN) helps businesses understand how to navigate the various resources available for hiring, retaining, managing and promoting veterans with disabilities. The VSN accomplishes this by speaking at events, conferences and other national speaking engagements.

American Corporate Partners

* Helps veterans transition from the armed services to civilian employment through career counseling and networking with professionals from corporations.

CareerOneStop

* Contains information on career exploration, resumes and interviewing, salary and benefits, education and training, and where to search for jobs. The one-stop site sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor for employers, jobseekers and employment service providers. For information call 1-877-348-0502 or visit www.CareerOneStop.org.

Department of Veteran’s Affairs Office Locator

* Assists returning soldiers who may need to contact their local VA office for services or benefits information. For information call 1–800–327–1000.

Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E)

* Provides information about the services that the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) program provides for veterans with service-connected disabilities.

DoD Military TransPortal

* Contains valuable information and resources designed specifically to assist service members leaving active duty. You should use this site as part of a comprehensive program of transition and employment assistance.

Hire Vets First

* Offers job search information and resources for veterans. Includes links to private recruitment resources, state employment web sites, job fairs and local One–Stop Career Centers. Also includes a military skills translator.

Key to Career Success

* Connects veterans and transitioning service members with career planning, training, and job search resources available at local One-Stop Career Centers.

MilSpouse.org

* Contains a Career Coach that guides military spouses to information based on key problems spouses often face.

National Archives and Records Administration

* Assists military personnel who have been discharged from the U.S. Air Force, Marines, Army, Navy, or Coast Guard with locating proof of military service, locations of military service records, correcting service records and discharges, and replacement of service medals and awards.

National Center for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

* Provides in-depth information on PTSD and traumatic stress. Includes FAQ, fact sheets, where to get help and more.

National Resource Directory (NRD)

* Provides a one-stop web resource to help wounded, ill and injured service members, veterans, their families and those who support them, as they transition back to civilian life. Includes access to information on job services and employment resources, transition assistance and vocational rehabilitation. The NRD is a partnership among the U.S. Departments of Labor, Defense and Veterans Affairs.

OPM Veterans’ Information

* Provides information about civil service employment and veterans, including how jobs are filled, Veterans’ Preference and what to do if you feel your employment rights have been violated. REALifelines Advisor

* Helps wounded and injured service members and veterans access valuable online resources and contact information for one-on-one employment assistance to help transition into the civilian workforce.

State Employment Agencies

* Links to all State Employment Agencies that offer workforce services, job placement and referrals, unemployment insurance, employment and training programs, career and labor market information, payroll, tax filing and more.

State Government Resources

* Links to state and territorial Web sites with information on employment, including employment opportunities with state and local government.

TAP Workshop Locator

* Helps separating and retiring service members find Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Job Searching Workshop locations.

TurboTap

* Provides information for service members on transitioning from military service. This portal will allow you to build a resume online, conduct job searches, and plan other transition activities. Designed by the Department of Defense (DoD) to smooth the transition of military personnel (and family members) leaving active duty.

Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)

* Provides information and assistance to persons experiencing problems with their civilian employment when absent from their jobs in order to serve in the uniformed services and enhanced protection for disabled veterans requiring employers to make reasonable accommodations.

USAJOBS Veteran’s Emploent Resource Center

* Provides multiple tools and resources for all U.S. veterans, including job opportunities, forms, benefits, and program information, as well as training assistance for private sector employment. Includes an online questionnaire to help you determine your Veterans’ Preference status.

Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs)

* Provides links to chartered and non-chartered VSOs, which serve and advocate for service members and veterans, available through the National Resource Directory.

Veterans’ Employment and Training Service offices

* Provides information about, and locations for, U.S. Department of Labor employment and training programs for veterans.

VeteransCorp

* Provides programs and services, including education and business development services, to veterans to encourage and assist them in starting and growing their own businesses.

VetSuccess

* Serves as a resource for veterans seeking employment and assists employers with job openings who want to hire veterans. Developed by the Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) Service.
